Im confused – Private sectors and Primary Sectors?
Hello,

Its been a while since i left school (im 18 now, i left at 16) & i always remember there being the Private and public sector. However i just got papers for a conference im attending soon & they mention Primary Sector and Secondary Sector.

I get the feeling that one may be a header of the other but im really confused.
Any light you could shine, would really help me not look so silly when i attend.

Not looking for a full description- just a quick explination would do. So i have a bit of an understanding.

ThankYou
I<3MR

Primary sector Involves the extraction and production of raw materials, such as coal, wood and steel. A coal miner and a fisherman would be workers in the primary sector.

Secondary sector Involves the transformation of raw materials into goods e.g. manufacturing steel into cars. A builder and a dressmaker would be workers in the secondary sector.

Any book recommendations?
For the past few weeks, I’ve been so bored without a book to read besides what’s required for English class. So I need a new book to read.
I like action, sci-fi, fantasy, and romance genres.
Some books I liked: The Hunger Games, The Giver, The Twilight Series, 1984, Life As We Knew It.
Also please recommend books for teens, not an adult book, and please list a title and a brief synopsis about it.
Thanks in Advance.

Ender’s Game, by Orson Scott Card (best sci -fi)
Aliens have attacked Earth twice and almost destroyed the human species. To make sure humans win the next encounter, the world government has taken to breeding military geniuses — and then training them in the arts of war… The early training, not surprisingly, takes the form of ‘games’… Ender Wiggin is a genius among geniuses; he wins all the games… He is smart enough to know that time is running out. But is he smart enough to save the planet?

Her Majesty’s Wizard by Christopher Stasheff (fantasy, romance)
Matt read the forbidden runes and found himself in a world where reciting verses worked magic. He got himself locked in a dungeon, created a fire-breathing dragon, and eventually discovered a beautiful princess he swore to save. Little did he guess how hard that would be….

Old Magic by by Marianne Curley
When Jarrod Thornton walks into the classroom, Kate Warren instantly senses that he is as different as she is. In anger, he unknowingly unleashes a storm in the science lab and Kate realizes that he has exceptional paranormal abilities that exceed her own. As an uneasy friendship forms, she helps Jarrod confront and internalize his talents. With her grandmother’s help, the teens journey back to the Middle Ages and break the curse that has controlled the Thornton family for generations. On one level, this is a story about paranormal abilities, curses, and time travel. Deeper, it’s an account of feeling different, friendship, and acceptance. The story is much like a train ride. The plot is fast and smooth and the characters’ developing friendship is akin to the train’s slowing and coming to a station stop.

If you Liked the hunger games, you might like Percy Jackson and the Olympians. It might sound kind of stupid at first (it did to me) but give it a try! You might end up enjoying it. Also, you may like Sarah Dessen books. They have romance in them, but are about regular teens.

 Hope this works!
Enders game, Harry potter, Animal farm, The book theif, This i know is true, and Frankenstein.

I haven’t read Percy Jackson yet but I want to…I also heard it’s good. You should try the Golden Compass series (His Dark Materials) and Graceling. I don’t know if these would really appeal to you but I LOVED THEM: The Red Necklace and Inkheart were awesome. Good luck!
Me! | Jan 13, 2010

Definitely the Peter and the Starcatchers series. It’s the prequel books to Peter Pan. Absolutely amazing, and very entertaining!
LunaBear | Jan 13, 2010

Here’s some of my previous recommendations:

"I greatly enjoy New York Times Bestsellers.

Artemis Fowl Series, By Eoin Colfer
Alex Rider Series, By Anthony Horowitz
The Inheritance Trilogy, By Christopher Paolini
The Redwall Series, By Brian Jacques." RE: Good books?

"Artemis Fowl, The Lost Colony (Eoin Colfer
Alex Rider, Skeleton Key (Anthony Horowitz)
Eldest (Christopher Paolini)." RE: Some good books for summer reading?

"Books such as Tom Sawyer can provide a different aspect on writing and a bit of history too, which is helpful if you plan on a profession in writing.

A good page turner like Snakehead, which is the latest book available in the Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz, can prove to be a fun and entertaining read.

If your needs fall more under the science fiction or fantasy genre I would suggest you gear towards the New York Times Bestsellers, such as Artemis Fowl or perhaps if you enjoy long books, try Eragon, Eldest, or Brisngr which are all written by Christopher Paolini each part of a series.

Farewell to Manazar seems to also be a good book, though I haven’t had time to read it yet. It’s about a Japanese girl who lived in the U.S. during WWII.

I hope this helps, if not try the link I provided, even if you don’t have the bookstore in your area the site will still provide a good search engine for books." RE: Good Books to Read?
the lovely bones.

an amazing read.

About a murdered girl watching her family from heaven.

Not scary, thought the beginning is a bit extreme.
I read it and i am 14 so i think you are safe !
Music.Love | Jan 13, 2010

hmmm Stephen king books are really good my favorites is IT which is about 7 kids that have to battle an evil without a face that takes on many different forms and terrorizes the small town of derry main, the lovely bones there just coming out with the movie but the book is probably better its about a girl who is murdered and she watches from heaven as her friends and family’s lives go on without her its a really good book, When my name was keoko was also a really good book its not really what your looking for but still, it was a bout a girl in korea during the korean war and how she and family are affected by it.
P.s the giver was an awesome book i had to read it for school a couple years ago and its still one of my favorite books
hope i helped!! : )
neena | Jan 13, 2010

1.Vampire Acadmey Series by Richelle Mead. the best series ever, sorry cant really summarise without spoilers.
2.mortal instruments trilogy by cassandra clare. About people called shadow hunters who kill demons, vampires, werewolves and stuff
3.Midnighters by Scott Westerfeld- about having a 25th hour in the day
Candice | Jan 13, 2010

For adventure, suspense and a little teen romance, try Dangerous Days and Blades, both by J. William Turner. Set mainly in Australia, but also some parts in England and California, these two, four part rites-of passage stories are about teens in hair-raising situations facing extreme weather, drug criminals, terrorists, wild dogs and forest fires.
At many airports a person can pay on 1$ for a 100,000$ life insurance policy covering the duration of the flight. In other words, the insurance company pays 100,000$ if the insured person dies from a possible flight crash; otherwise the company gains 1$ (before expenses). if a right brain introverted attitude means a bad attitude, name him Double the Trouble i think that would be really cute. if not then name him What About Bob. If you cant think of a show name try thinking of movie titles that would like fit him or be cute good luck

Why do people feel sorry for the banks and people in the mortgage crisis?
The people signed the papers for the mortgage, they knew the costs. The banks knew the threat to lending to bad borrowers, so has the American culture became too stupid to take care of itself and not read what they’re signing on to? I do not feel one once of sympathy to anyone losing their house, the people who lost their jobs could of saved up instead of buying that new car. Why couldn’t the government let the people rot in their own mistakes? The beauty of a free market is that smaller banks will take over the big banks and become more stable than their predecessors that caused this calamity.

please read this about the end ofthe world in 2012…?
Scientific experts from around the world are genuinely predicting that 3 years from now, all life on Earth could well finish. Some are saying it’ll be humans that set it off. Others believe that a natural phenomenon will be the cause. And the religious folks are saying it’ll be God himself who presses the stop button…

1. Mayan Calendar

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2…7 2/Mayan_5.gif

The first mob to predict 2012 as the end of the world were the Mayans, a bloodthirsty race that were good at two things:

Building highly accurate astrological equipment out of stone and
Sacrificing Virgins.

Thousands of years ago they managed to calculate the length of the lunar moon as 329.53020 days, only 34 seconds out. The Mayan calendar predicts that the Earth will end on December 21, 2012. Given that they were pretty close to the mark with the lunar cycle, it’s likely they’ve got the end of the world right as well.

2. Sun Storms

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2…o lar_storm.jpg

Solar experts from around the world monitoring the sun have made a startling discovery: our sun is in a bit of strife. The energy output of the sun is, like most things in nature, cyclic, and it’s supposed to be in the middle of a period of relative stability. However, recent solar storms have been bombarding the Earth with so much radiation energy, it’s been knocking out power grids and destroying satellites. This activity is predicted to get worse, and calculations suggest it’ll reach its deadly peak sometime in 2012

3. The Atom Smasher

Scientists in Europe have been building the world’s largest particle accelerator. Basically its a 27km tunnel designed to smash atoms together to find out what makes the Universe tick. However, the mega-gadget has caused serious concern, with some scientists suggesting that it’s properly even a bad idea to turn it on in the first place. They’re predicting all manner of deadly results, including mini black holes. So when this machine is fired up for its first serious experiment in 2012, the world could be crushed into a super-dense blob the size of a basketball.

4. The Bible says…

If having scientists warning us about the end of the world isn’t bad enough, religious folks are getting in on the act aswell. Interpretations of the Christian Bible reveal that the date for Armageddon, the final battle between Good an Evil, has been set down for 2012. The I Ching, also known as the Chinese book of Changes, says the same thing, as do various sections of the Hindu teachings.

5. Super Volcano

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2…s thelenaex.jpg

Yellowstone National Park in the United States is famous for its thermal springs and Old Faithful geyser. The reason for this is simple – it’s sitting on top of the world’s biggest volcano, and geological experts are beginning to get nervous sweats. The Yellowstone volcano has a pattern of erupting every 650,000 years or so, and we’re many years overdue for an explosion that will fill the atmosphere with ash, blocking the sun and plunging the Earth into a frozen winter that could last up to 15,000 years. The pressure under the Yellowstone is building steadily, and geologists have set 2012 as a likely date for the big bang.

6. The Physicists

This one’s case of bog-simple maths mathematics. Physicists at Berekely Uni have been crunching the numbers. and they’ve determined that the Earth is well overdue for a major catastrophic event. Even worse, they’re claiming their calculations prove, that we’re all going to die, very soon – while also saying their prediction comes with a certainty of 99 percent- and 2012 just happens to be the best guess as to when it occurs.

7. Slip-Slop-Slap-BANG!

We all know the Earth is surrounded by a magnetic field that sheilds us from most of the sun’s radiation. What you might not know is that the magnetic poles we call north and south have a nasty habit of swapping places every 750,000 years or so – and right now we’re about 30,000 years overdue. Scientists have noted that the poles are drifting apart roughly 20-30kms each year, much faster than ever before, which points to a pole-shift being right around the corner. While the pole shift is underway, the magnetic field is disrupted and will eventually disappear, sometimes for up to 100 years. The result is enough UV outdoors to crisp your skin in seconds, killing everything it touches.

What do YOU think????

This is just another theory in the pile. The pile of theories that were 100% wrong.

The Biblical end of the world has been predicted to be in 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1998, 1997, 1996…you see where I’m going..and if you don’t, you have bigger problems than thinking the world’s going to end in a few years.

Sure, it’s possible the world will end then, but it’s no more likely than it ending now, ten seconds ago, ten seconds from now, or any other time. It’d just be coincidence that it happens to end during one of the more popular completely absurd conspiracy theories.

So, in conclusion: google "end of the world + n" where n is any year. ANY year. You’ll get thousands of results. But guess what, the world didn’t end in 2009. Or 2008. Or 2007. Or ever.
